Sri Kamakshi Amman temple is located at Mangadu, Chennai city in the state of Tamilnadu.
Kamakshi amman is seated in a majestic Padmasana, an yogic posture signifying peace and prosperity. Goddess holds a sugarcane bow and bunch of flowers in the lower two of her arms and has a pasha, an anushka in her upper two arms.
Sati devi’s back had fallen here and the temple is also among one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peetas.
This temple has a 5 tier Rajagopuram. This temple was built in 14th Century.
